FIRST DAY OF FALL: September 22

The first day of fall is upon us! Have you started putting your décor out? Yeah, I know…here in Houston, we don’t exactly have a true autumn. Forget about seeing the beautiful colors from changing leaves, and we are LUCKY to get any kind of cool weather before our “winter” starts; but who said you can’t create your own fall atmosphere, even when the weather doesn’t agree? It will be here and gone before you know it! So to help get you started (and maybe even in the season) Brown Interiors has a few Tips & Ideas to get you going!

Let’s start with my favorite—it’s always nice to have a warm welcome to your house and that starts with the entry! Hang a gorgeous wreath on the front door for all your guests to see. You can buy one, or if you enjoy being crafty, you can make one. Go with one that has fall embellishments depending on your own personal style. Plant some nice fall flowers to sit out on your front porch. We have some great decorative pumpkins that would be perfect to sit out around the flowers. Several different sizes are available, but we are running out quick!

ACCENT PIECES! Buy a new accent rug, something that’s darker. It can help with covering up any tracked in dirt as well as bring new life to an old room. You can also liven up a room with accent pillows. It’s an easy way to give a room a fast make over for the season. Add a fall colored throw onto the back of your couch. You will need it soon for those cooler nights.

Your kitchen is another great place to add some fall décor. Change the colors of hand towels; you can always use new ones! Use fresh fruits & vegetables for table décor; this is affordable and fashionable for seasonal changes. You can even place another, smaller wreath on your kitchen pantry.

Last, but certainly not least–burn some fall scented candles. Come by Brown Interiors and grab a Votivo candle. A couple of delicious scents we carry are Champaca or Black Ginger. You can smell them throughout your home and they will definitely help get you in the season. Even if the weather outside doesn’t seem like fall; who said it can’t on the inside?
